Description
From the trailhead, this is a well-marked route. Beehive Trail is very popular, and the trail is very well planned out and maintained. After a short hike through the woods to the beginning of the Beehive Trail, the trail ascends quickly. Iron rungs are incorporated into the trail to aide with the climb. There are a few places with steep drop-offs, so this trail is not recommended for those with a fear of heights, nor for those who are uncomfortable with the use of iron rungs.
Throughout the ascent, the views of the coast and Acadia National Park are breathtaking. After the relatively quick ascent, the summit offers beautiful views of the surrounding area. Due to the narrow nature of the trail, the trail is intended to be one-way. There are several choices for a descending path, and the descent is not down the cliff face and does not include the use of the rungs. This short trail is beautiful and rewarding.
