Description

This short, steep trail offers plenty of bang for your buck. Starting from Echo Lake Beach, the Beech Cliff Trail heads up the sheer granite cliffs that rise above the southwest shore of Echo Lake. The trailhead is located at the north end of the beach parking area. The trail starts gently at first, heading through a quiet patch of forest before heading up the steep cliffs. Railings guide you along tricky sections of the trail.

As you near the end of the Beech Cliff Trail, you'll climb a series of metal ladders bolted into the rocks. This is definitely not a trail for people with a fear of heights, but those who tackle it will be rewarded with terrific views of Echo Lake and the surrounding mountains. Upon reaching the top of the Beech Cliff Trail, many hikers continue along the Beech Cliff Loop Trail, which also offers great views. After working up a sweat on the Beech Cliff Trail, there's no better way to cool off than a swim in Echo Lake.
