Description

From the top descending into the Muir Woods National Monument, you'll find switchbacks, loose footing, and plenty of roots and branches and things to step over. The descent will take you through a fast changing landscape. You'll be shaded most all the way with pockets of light sneaking in between the tree tops.

This trail is usually combined with a number of other trails to complete a loop through monument. You'll find others going in both directions.

Lots of eroded steps, easy to trip on the vertical boards holding up each step when going downhill if not careful, also can bruise soles if soft boots
