The trailhead marker is located on the left side of the boat ramp parking lot as you are facing the lake. The trail can can be accessed from multiple starting points. If starting at the beach, the trail is about 15 yards from the shore and is marked with a white blaze. If taken counterclockwise, the dam will be within the first half mile.
The trail actually follows along the side of the road until the other side of the dam, where there is a trail sign accompanied by a white blaze, marking the trail's reentrance to the woods.
Once in the woods, the trail follows the edge of the lake. The first 2 or 3 miles from the dam are doubletrack, and once on the other side of the lake the trail narrows and becomes singletrack.
This trail is very easy to follow and is an easy hike, with the exception of a few steep sections.
