Need to Know

This trail is jointly managed by Pike National Forest—South Park Ranger District and South Platte Ranger District.

Description

The Ute Creek Trail #629 provides access for climbing Bison Peak and McCurdy Mountain, as well as to several extended loops into the Lost Creek Wilderness, and provides a short route to some of the high country vistas found along the ridge between Bison Peak and McCurdy Park. Because the trail is almost entirely in designated wilderness, Wilderness regulations apply.

Some snow above treeline, expect postholing. Steep going after 2.5 miles. Splendid view! 11.4mi — 6h 00m

Extremely steep. The views are worth it once you get to the Brookside McCurdy Trail but this trail was more or less miserable with a full backpack on. 7mi — 7h 00m
