Overview
This summit hike checks all the boxes of a semi-remote Colorado classic. The mountain stands proudly alone with unique colors and rock strata. The summit ridge hike is an absolute highlight.
Description
The route to Teocalli Mountain (13,208') starts with a gnarly drive, but if you've got a 4×4, you can take West Brush Creek Road (738.2A) all the way to the trailhead. If you don't have a 4x4 and can't make it all the way there, start wherever you're comfortable and just add mileage.
The hike up Teocalli is a great time and. It goes through a beautiful forest before popping out and heading straight up a steep grassy slope till you turn left, look for the cairn below the cliffs to find your route, then follow the cairns until you can see the summit and once the markers run out, you can choose your adventure/ path to the summit. This section is rocky and could be considered easy class 2.
The views from the summit and all along this trail are noteworthy! You can see majestic Colorado peaks pointing off in all directions, filled in with seas of green trees in the valleys.
Flora & Fauna
Wildflowers go off on summer on the southern flanks of Teocalli Mountain.
