The trailhead is at the point where Trail N. 506 from Manarola joins the provincial road (just before the stairs leading to Volastra), on the opposite side of the road. Follow the stone-paved path up past a small shrine (there is a water fountain on the left side of the shrine), then past vegetable gardens, fruit trees and olive trees.

Cross the old stone bridge over Groppo River, and continue up past more olive trees. A short ramp of stairs turns to singletrack, then joins the provincial road for a brief segment until the tiny village of Groppo. At the top of the parking area in Groppo, turn left, up the stairs, into the village.

Turn right in the direction of " Ristorante Cappun Magru", pass the restaurant, and continue up past vegetable fields and vineyards. Turn right at the trail marker and continue up through the vineyards until the provincial road. Cross the road and continue up until the intersection with Trail N. 530 (a dirt road). Cross Trail N. 530 and continue up until the intersection with Trail N. 506 from Volastra.

Along the trail you will see gardens, olive trees and vineyards, and a bit of forest.
