Overview
This is a smooth, nearly dead-flat loop around Evergreen Lake which is popular with fishermen and tourists alike. The lake keeps it feeling cool and mountains in the distance add a nice view.
Need to Know
No Swimming Boats can be rented.
Description
From the town, park at a small dirt lot next to the Evergreen Dam to check out the 'Mountain Man' sculpture and the cascade of water coming down the dam.
From the sculpture, you'll gain the height of the dam quickly and progress through some trees to walk a flat dirt path around the lake until reaching a new wooden dock with benches. The trail continues onto a road that goes by the Evergreen Lake House, a lovely building Evergreen describes as the 'crown jewel' of their town.
Among other things, paddle and fishing boats can be rented, and the building can be booked for functions. It serves as the base of operations for skating on the lake in the winter, which is a great side journey during colder seasons.
At its end, the trail joins Upper Bear Creek Road and makes its way along the shoulder to return to your starting point. This is a great after-meal walk for those passing through this charming mountain town.
Flora & Fauna
Evergreen trees (no pun intended) and Lake Trout.
