Description

Starting at Malone Bay Campground head west along the shoreline of Siskiwit Lake. Malone Bay Campground is only accessible by ferry, water taxi, or hiking from the Greenstone Ridge Trail.

A 732-foot knob is the first ascent; three major climbs await. Reaching the end of the lake, a boardwalk turns hikers north. You'll pass through a wetland area and eventually reach the climb towards Ishpeming Point (1,377 ft). The fire tower at Ishpeming Point is surrounding by the forest, so views are limited at this point - the second highest on the island.

Flora & Fauna

Throughout the hike, you'll pass paper birch, maple, and a variety of wetland plants unique to that section following a fire in 1936.
