Description
If you're starting from town, hike east up Tony's trail until the "T" crossing. Head right on the continuation of
Upper Loop until you get to another "T" crossing in the trail. Left will take you toward Upper Upper and Whetstone Vista.
The first mile of Upper Upper has been re-routed in 2014 with a bit of additional climbing, but a slightly easier grade than the old Upper Upper which makes it a little more friendly. After the new Upper Upper re-route joins back with the original Upper Upper, Whetstone Vista trail branches off to your right in a quarter mile. This trail is a bumpy downhill that joins up with Brush Creek Road. Continuing along Upper Upper, the uphill progressively becomes steeper and much rockier before the descent back down to Brush Creek.
Many people prefer to hike Upper Upper in the opposite direction from Brush Creek. The uphill in this direction is equally as stiff, but most of the harder sections come when heading downhill back towards Whetstone Vista and
Upper Loop.
