This is a short loop with easy access from the parking area. Kids will be thrilled by (or possibly terrified of) the views from atop this massive granite wall.
Pets are allowed on this paved trail, but must be kept on a leash not more than six feet long or otherwise physically restrained.
Overview
From the
Glacier Point parking and tour unloading area, a short, paved, wheelchair-accessible trail takes you to an exhilarating (some might say unnerving) point 3,214 feet above Curry Village, on the floor of Yosemite Valley.
Description
Start at the
Glacier Point parking area and enjoy a leisurely wheelchair-accessible stroll to the
Glacier Point railing, where you look down on Yosemite Valley (3,200 below!) and east toward
Half Dome and the High Sierra.
The extreme tip of the
Glacier Point promontory is barren, but on the slopes below, in the valley to the west, and on the wooded slopes above, glacial material is abundant. Its glacial origin is proved by the presence in it of rocks derived from Little Yosemite Valley and the High Sierra.
