The quaint town of vacation cabins at Alpine, MT is as idyllic a town as exists in America. Camp above it in the USFS campground in preparation for setting out into the deep Wilderness of the Beartooths in the morning. Whether you are just hiking a small section in the Rosebud area or pairing the Russel Creek Trail into The Beaten Path for its entirety you'll not be let down.

After a short walk you exit the wide open basin where Alpine sits and you'll quickly become swallowed up by massive faces of rock who's heights are measured in the thousands of feet. Braided waterways, waterfalls, stellar mountain lakes, and all of the accompanying flora and fauna that make these places special will be a feast for your senses as you hike deeper and deeper into the backcountry.

At the height of this trail, you'll find yourself in the true alpine country studded with rocky lakes - a land always ready for a storm of winter proportions. From the high country either return the way you came or continue Southward on the Russel Creek Trail.
