Designated access across private land to the west central Bridgers. Please respect private land and stay on the designated access. There is a parking area at the end of the road. The last one mile of road is very rough and is not suitable for low clearance vehicles.
Description
This trail is most popular for mountain biking, but is a great way to connect up to the
Bridger Ridge Trail #513 from the west side of the Bridgers if you are looking for a long walk. About halfway up to the ridge, the trail becomes too steep for bikes and makes for great hiking up to the Sacagawea Pass, and the adventurous can press on to
Sacagawea Peak.
There are two 'trailheads' for Corbly. The first isn't really a trailhead, but it's where cars without high clearance park. If you have some good clearance on your vehicle, you can drive further up the road about a mile, and park right where the singletrack starts. Once on the singletrack, the trail twists and turns and switchbacks up until a first creek crossing about 2.5 miles in. Continue on and the trail continues to switchback until finally it opens up and you get an incredible view of the Gallatin Valley. Keep going until the 2nd creek crossing and the trail starts to steepen dramatically, and sustains a steep grade up towards treeline, where a final few switchbacks take you to the Sacagawea Pass.
