Description

From the Bowman Lake trailhead, follow the north shore of the Bowman Lake to reach the campground at the head of the lake. Camp here or continue on further to Brown's Pass, high on the continental divide.

The trail along Bowman Lake is generally flat and undulating and makes for a great introductory overnight backpack for the uninitiated. Once past the Head of the Lake you'll really begin to feel more and more like you're in the deep Glacier backcountry as you continue further up the headwaters of the creek. Toward that end, the trail makes a turn up a ravine to the SE and begins to climb in elevation as you make your way along this waterfall-studded creek as it climbs toward the Continental Divide.

Reach the top of the Divide and your options are to stay at the Browns Pass campground, continue east off the Divide and down into Thunderbird Creek, or make your way northwest into Hole in the Wall and Boulder Pass.

BEAUTIFUL. Good place to paddle board. The lake was stunning but the trail was in the forest with little views. Rough road to the lake. 4mi

Went about 4.5 miles up the lake, ate and came back out due to time of day and shifting wind bringing smoke in to the valley. 9mi
