Overview
Nice paved trails that connect with others in the same system (Arabia Mountain,
Rockdale River Trail and South River Trails) to provide a combined distance of over 30 miles of trail.
The path runs past small waterfalls, granite monadnock; through forest, covered and uncovered bridges.
Need to Know
Use the restroom at the trailhead, or Arabia Mountain Area, or prepare to hold it for about 8 miles.
Description
Start off at the Arabia Mountain Trailhead, and pass the granite outcroppings, creeks, and critters that line the trail, down to Alexander Lake. Take a rest and enjoy a view of the lake and all the aquatic life, before heading back.
There are also restrooms available at the lake area. This hike heads back toward Arabia Mountain, but there are other trails if a longer distance is desired. The
Rockdale River Trail links up to this course, as well as Panola Mountain/Alexander Lake Trail and the South River Trail.
Flora & Fauna
Moss, pine and deciduous forest, wildflowers and plenty of grassy fields. There's a good chance of spotting hares, deer, snakes, and/or turtles.
