Description
The Warm Springs Trail is a very popular trail done as a shuttle or using the Hwy 21 to return to the top of the trail. The hike begins near bull trout lake, which also has great camping, starting with a moderate climb to the high point of the trail. From the high point, you'll begin by descending the most challenging part of the trail. There will be a number of steep switchbacks that you'll need to negotiate which can be loose depending on trail moisture.
Once past the switchbacks, the trail continues to descend gradually along the creek with a couple quick up and down sections. As you approach the end of the trail you'll climb away from the river. There are a number of sections of the climb that have serious exposure so make sure to be careful. Once you reach the trail junction with the
Link Trail you'll have one last descent to Hwy 21. There are nice hot springs in the campground just a 1/4 mile up the road if you desire some soaking time.
