Description
From Angel Fire to Taos, the trail climbs to the ridge of the Sangre de Cristos and then descends for miles to the terminus in Taos Canyon. This trail is mostly singletrack with some small sections of forest road. You are mostly surrounded by conifer forest with some big aspen groves to make things interesting. There are many places to access the trail along its full course to break it into smaller sections or loops.
This trail feels remote and takes you winding through forests, over ridgetops and zooming down sections of singletrack that are mostly smooth but does have some rocky sections, especially near the end as you descend into pinyon/juniper trees.
Flora & Fauna
Elk, bear, turkeys, grouse, mule deer, coyotes and if you are lucky, a mountain lion.
