Overview
This trail is excellent for families and children. Everyone will learn a little tidbit along The
Burford Lake Trail which has interpretive stops at the peak of the dam.
Follow the path down to continue all the way around the lake for even more views of the lake and landscape.
Description
The trailhead starts at the small parking lot off of 49. The trail is well marked and maintained to the top of the overlook of the lake where the official trail ends. From the overlook, you can either head back on the marked trail or continue around the lake and loop back.
Cactus is native here so watch your step, especially if taking kids and dogs. If continuing on, cross the creek, there are multiple rocks in the creek that can be used to cross. If you're feeling a little crazy, kick your shoes off and cool your feet.
Work your way on a slight incline after the creek crossing. Stop by the other side of the dam from the overlook for another scenic view.
Flora & Fauna
If you're lucky, you might see a beaver. If you're unlucky you might step on a cactus...
There are several educational markers along the way allowing you to better interpret your experience.
