Description

Jackson Hole is an abandoned river meander, where the river cuts through a bend to straighten its channel, leaving a central butte in a moat-like valley.

The hike from Hurrah Pass or Lockhart Basin out to Jackson Hole runs through very rugged and remote terrain (including some private property). While the trail runs on easy to moderate jeep road, there is a fair bit of sand and the distance from just about anywhere is long, so come prepared with extra food, water, and a can-do attitude.

You can hike the loop all the way around the central butte, and return the way you came.
