ADA Accessible The trail starts wide and flat but does start to climb. The trail gets very steep as you near the summit, at this point wheelchairs would have to be pushed and have very good brakes for the descent.

Family Friendly Easy to follow and quite popular, kids will be distracted by deer, flowers and views.

Trailhead on Hurricane Hill Road is accessed via Hurricane Ridge road, entry fee required. Hurricane Ridge road is open every day in the summer but only Fri - Sun & Holidays (weather permitting) from 9am - 4pm during the winter season. Hurricane Hill road is snowbound in winter, and designated as a cross country ski track. Avalanche dangers exist, winter navigation skills required.

Overview

With views of the Olympic Mountains, Vancouver Island and Mount Baker, one could spend hours standing atop Hurricane Hill taking in the sights. Luckily, during the summer months, this trail is easy enough for the whole family to enjoy. In the winter, the trail is longer and covered in snow, but offers some of the best-groomed areas for snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the Olympic National Park.

Description

Located just past the Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center, this trail is a year-round favorite for tourists and locals alike. Chances are, you won't be alone on this trail, but there are plenty of places to take in a view in silence. Hurricane Hill can be steep to beginners, but the reward is worth the effort.

The trail is paved in its entirety and easy to follow. It starts out relatively flat as it sidehills the side of two highpoints. The second sidehill is a slight climb. After this point it switchbacks steeply to the wide summit plateau area. On a clear day this route is hard to beat. Return the way came.

Flora & Fauna

During late summer, marmots, deer and wildflowers are abundant.
