Description

This is one of the crown-jewel singletrack trails of the park. This pretty trail starts out climbing gently, then steps up to a serious incline with rolling terrain. Cross multiple bridges along the way.

Toward its end, it settles into a playful section of tight twists around the trees in an almost-flat section forested with redwoods. The Giant Salamander Trail is a singletrack trail that was converted from a dirt road. It is a convenient way to connect the north and southern halves of the preserve. Note: bikes are allowed on this trail.

Flora & Fauna

Redwoods. Giant salamanders are rare and can grow to a foot in length. They are typically found along streams in redwood forests.
