Description

The Manzanita Trail is one of the prime trails of this park. Traversing it in this north to south direction, makes it almost completely downhill. This is an enjoyable way to go, but you'll pay for all that downhill later! The trail surface is rutted and rocky in some sections making for more challenging footing. This route is popular with mountain bikers so expect uphill and downhill traffic.

Manzanita Trail provides some switchbacks, some sandpits, some sunshine, sandstone, rocky trail obstacles, and portions of trail that look more like a creek bed. (The Manzanita Trail was improved in 2011 to remove a hazardous section.) The trail ends at a T-junction with the Timberview Trail fire road. Note: bikes are allowed on this trail.

Flora & Fauna

Manzanita, buckbrush, chinquapin, chamise, leather oak.
