Description
Starting from the Muddy Hollow Road trailhead, travel northwest on this wide trail. Almost immediately, you'll come across a creek and then plunge into coastal scrub. Near the junction with the
Bayview trial, look for cypress trees which mark the site of one of the peninsulas first dairy ranches, Muddy Hollow Ranch. Continue straight on Muddy Hollow Road.
Ascend a very mild grade along the grassy hillside. The area has a history of ranching, and the small dams that ranchers built to provide water for cattle are still visible in the natural hollows. Look for the new forest of Bishop pines spreading across the hillsides burned in the
Mount Vision fire. On the right, pass the
Bucklin trail as it climbs steeply uphill. Continue straight on the narrowing Muddy Hollow Road into a depression carrying Glenbrook Creek. Cross the bridge and start a short uphill to the crest to join
Glenbrook Trail at a signed junction. Note: bikes are not allowed on this trail.
Flora & Fauna
Tule elk, coyotes, fox, bobcat, deer. Bishop pine, cypress, coyote brush, lupine, ceanothus, monkeyflower.
