Description

Starting from the parking area across the street from the Bear Valley Visitor Center, this trail explores the the geologic forces behind earthquakes, particularly the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Head into the meadow from the trailhead and bear left at the fork to follow path in the right sequence for the interpretive information present throughout the trail.

Take the time to view the photos along the trail and read the informational panels. As you hike along the path it'll start to bend to south, showcasing some local stories from the 1906 earthquake. A short side trail along the way will take you the famous break in the fence line that showcases how much the land moved right along the fault line during the 1906 earthquake. Return to the main trail and complete the loop by hiking toward the west and you'll quickly come to the trail's end back at the parking area you began from.
