Description

The River Trail is an awesome route, featuring gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains! This is a great trail to help get acclimated to the altitude at the park, as the going isn't too steep. Additionally, this trail can be accessed right from Trail Ridge Road, so you won't have worry about starting at dawn to complete this one.

Lots of elk and moose can be seen on trail throughout the morning, which makes for an exciting start. Be careful because you may have a close encounter with one! It's also easy to loop up with the Valley Trail for a nice little hike.

**Heavy equine use on this trail; be on the look out so you don't step in it!**
