Grouse hen. These birds can take you by surprise as they often wait to the last minute to fly away and they fly away with a sudden loud flourish of wings beats.
Hera Buckmoth caterpillar digging a hole from where it will emerge later this season as a moth. Quite alien looking with its yellow circles and its spiky spines.
Wild rose bushes flourish along the trail.
The gap in the hedge ahead helps keep you on the trial through this thick grassy area.
