The Longhunter Loop Trail moves through the woods along a wide dirt and grass trail.
Fort Watauga can be accessed via a short paved trail that runs from the visitor center to the fort.
Views of Sycamore Shores, which played an important role as a meeting spot for the Overmountain Men, can be enjoyed from the trail.
The trail is crushed gravel and crosses a wooden bridge over a small creek that breaks off from the main river.
Benches can be found along the trail that allow you to sit, relax, and enjoy the views of the Watauga River.
