While this sign may be confusing, it is perfectly legal and recommended for foot traffic to start the trail at this spot. Mountain bike traffic is routed the opposite direction in order to prevent user conflict.

Probably the largest stream crossing I came across on the loop. Most of the cyclists had to dismount for the climb up the ridge.
