While Lassen Peak is definitely the main attraction at sunset, the view to the west is also pretty magical, as the western sky lights up through the trees the line the lake.
The light is perfect if you head out in the early morning on Chaos Crags Trail.

The light is perfect if you head out in the early morning on Chaos Crags Trail.
There is a lot of fire damage in the forest ('17), yet there is still beauty in it, such as all the woody fungus growths on the charred timber.
Manzanita Creek flows gracefully into Manzanita Lake.
Experience the Dwarf Forest, a rejuvenating forest, along Lily Pond Trail. The rocks are part of Chaos Jumble, the remnants of a huge rock avalanche that buried the original forest about 350 years ago.
Reflection Lake is stunningly beautiful in the afternoon light.
Is it a small shallow pond or a flooded meadow? This is along the Lily Pond Trail.
