This is one of the larger trees along the trail.
The Monarch of the Swamp is a 600-year-old bald cypress.
Everytime we go here, this tree brings back childhood memories.
The beginning of the trail passes this verdant swamp.
Freshwater marshes adorn the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve.
This was the biggest gator we seen this time around. Hopefully sometime in spring they'll be more.
