In the winter as the snow melts, water can run along the trail until it finds its way downhill to a stream. Make sure you have appropriate footwear.
Anthony Creek Trail as it works its way through a rhododendron forest.
These log crossings can be slippery and mossy. Here, the footlog crosses the Left Prong.
The trail climbs to the Appalachian Trail at the crest of the Smokies. This means that even though the trail may be clear when you start, you can be in snow by the time you finish in the winter.
