Looking back down the trail.
Rhododendron can be seen toward the end of the Finley Cane Trail. The tree is found all along the trail and blooms in July, providing great opportunities to photograph it's white flowers.
The wide Bote Mountain Trail works its way up Bote Mountain. Sometimes, downed trees are obstacles in the Smokies, although they are usually easy to get around.
Little springs like this make their way down to the trail. Salamanders and mushrooms flourish in these environments.
The West Prong Trail meets up with the Bote Mountain Trail and offers several possibilities for continuing.
Bote Mountain Trail joins the West Prong Trail before it goes off to the right and climbs Bote Mountain. Snow lines the crest of the Smokies in the background.
