Description

"The Gem of the Sierra." - John Muir.

The favorite spot of of our old park's favorite naturalist is this green and gold field in the trees. Located further away from the main road and Moro Rock, you can find the solitude Muir sought with the flowers and deer that occupy this space. As this is where several major trails begin, it's a perfect stop for day-trippers and families. Pack a picnic to enjoy at the nearby Crescent Meadow Picnic Area.

Short Walk: At the very end of Crescent Meadow Road, there is the parking lot for this meadow. This is also the start point of the High Sierra Trail and Giant Forest Trail so the lot can fill quickly during the summer. Consider, as always, taking the shuttle when available.

Family Friendly: A short, easy hike near several other attractions. Picnic tables and bathrooms nearby.
