Kern Hot Spring [Suggest Edits]

Description

Soak your tired feet and muscles in a hot tub filled by a natural hot spring close to where Rock Creek empties into the Kern River. Located in a small meadow next to the Kern River, at the bottom of Kern Canyon, admire views of the 1,500+ foot cliffs of Kern Canyon, as you enjoy the hot tub. And don't forget to appreciate the beautiful forest with its sequoias.

If you choose to stay overnight here, there is a lovely trail camp very close by. To preserve this fragile and pristine wilderness, one must stay in the trail camp. It includes a well maintained toilet, making it a very nice place to overnight.

Overnight Trip: Kern Hot Springs is deep in the remote backcountry of Sequoia National Park. The High Sierra Trail can be used to reach it from either the west or east High Sierra Trail trailheads. One can also hike through the Golden Trout Wilderness from the Horseshoe Meadow trailhead, to the Kern River, and then about ten miles up the Kern River on Lower Kern Trail. Other routes can be discovered with a good trail map.
