Guadalupe Peak Summit (Signal Peak) [Suggest Edits]
Description
The highest point in Texas, Guadalupe Peak stands at 8,751 ft. above sea level. Rising high above the Chihuahuan Desert, the peak offers stunning views of the surrounding area.
Although the summit is high, it can generally be climbed year-round. Once at the top, you'll find a stainless steel pyramid which was erected by American Airlines in 1958 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Butterfield Overland Mail, a stagecoach route that once ran below the mountain.
All-Day Hike: Take the Guadalupe Peak Trail. It features 3,000 ft. of elevation gain in a little over 4 miles just to get to the top. Don't forget you have to hike the whole way back too!
You can make this an overnight by staying at the Guadalupe Peak Campground.
