Description

This wonderful stone tower sits atop the East Peak of Meridan's Hanging Hills and is the crown jewel of the 1,800-acre Hubbard Park. Constructed in 1900, this historic observation tower is a classic landmark in the area. On a clear day, visitors can see as far as New Haven, Sleeping Giant, and Long Island Sound to the south and Hartford's skyline and the foothills of the Berkshires to the north.

This iconic and historic landmark as well as the rest of the beautiful Hubbard Park are well worth a visit.

Short Hike: Castle Craig is accessible by way of the Metacomet Trail and various trails in the park as well as a road that is open daily from May through October, weather permitting.

ADA Accessible: When the road is open (daily, May through October, weather permitting), the tower essentially becomes a roadside attraction. Additionally, the walkways around the tower are paved.

Family Friendly: Whether approaching by way of the road or hiking this is a great attraction for kids. Hikes up to the tower from the rest of the park can be steep and rocky but are not too difficult for most kids.
