Sarel Marais Family Homestead

Description
The Sarel Marais family homestead, located on the Rietvlei farm, was constructed in the 1850's. This site has ruins of an old house, barn, numerous out buildings, and rondawels. Two families owned this land before it was sold to the Johannesburg City Council in 1978. The Marais family owned the land from 1850-1916 followed by the Quilliam family from 1916-1978.
On the Road: The Sarel Marais family homestead can be accessed from the Bloubos Trail or the Gifbol Trail.
