Azalea Lake [Suggest Edits]

Description

Azalea Lake is the largest body of water in a highly remote part of the Red Buttes Wilderness. It is a broad, round, fairly shallow, but beautiful, subalpine pool set beneath the gray bluffs of Figurehead Mountain. A trail circles the lake and camping and camp fires are banned within this circle. There are designated equestrian and backpacking camping areas on opposite sides of the lake. This is a locally popular day hike and overnight backpack destination.

All-Day Hike: You can reach the lake via the Azalea Lake/Fir Glade Trail #955 on a long day hike. You can reach it via the Butte Fork Trail #957 on a very long day hike or an easy overnight backpack.
