Tahquamenon Falls [Suggest Edits]
Description
Tahquamenon Falls is famous for its red colored water and high volume flow (third highest east of the Mississippi in spring). The falls are 200 feet wide and just under 50 feet high. Tahquamenon Falls are equally beautiful in all seasons.
Short Walk: The falls are accessible via a half-mile hike from the parking area followed by a set of small staircases to the Upper Falls viewing area. Other viewing areas are a short walk downstream. There are multiple viewings areas with and without stairs. You can take the same path further downstream to the smaller Lower Falls, or head back to your car and drive a few miles down the main road for another access point if you don't wish to take the hike.
ADA Accessible: The DNR has a Track Chair that you can reserve for free if you call ahead of time. Call 906-492-3415 for more info.
Family Friendly: The falls are accessible with only a short walk from the parking area and are certainly impressive enough for the kids and parents alike. The primary viewing platform requires traversing stairs.
