Bald Mountain Viewpoint [Suggest Edits]

Description

There are amazing views in all directions from the summit of Bald Mountain at 2,387 ft.

The summit of Bald Mountain is a gently sloped, rounded, grass-covered dome, making for easy hiking with ample space to stroll around and marvel at the views.

Some of the Santa Cruz Mountain's highest peaks can be seen from here - Mt. Umunhum to the west at 3,486 ft. and Loma Prieta to the southeast, the tallest mountain in the Santa Cruz Mountains at 3,786 ft. To the northeast, the Quicksilver Hills, San Jose countryside, and East Bay Hills can be seen. Almaden Reservoir is close by to the east.

Short Walk: From Hicks Road, turn onto Mt. Umunhum Road and go almost 2 miles up Mt. Umunhum Road to the Bald Mountain parking area. A short hike on Bald Mountain Trail from this parking area takes one to the summit of Bald Mountain and the viewpoint.
