Sinking Waters Sink Holes [Suggest Edits]
Description
Hikers can enjoy viewing this series of sink holes into which the streams and creeks disappear, giving rise to the name, Sinking Waters. A boardwalk through the marsh provides views of several sink holes. The trail is part of the Tennessee State Park system. I've lived in the area for 30+ years, and never knew this spot existed. My eight children (aged 14 to 6 months) all commented about how much they enjoyed this little trail - especially the boardwalk and sink holes.
Short Walk: By the most direct route from Cedar Branch Road, it is 0.7 miles from the parking lot to the boardwalk.
Family Friendly: It is an easy walk/hike with children, with plenty of varied scenery. Includes several interpretive signs giving history of the area, as well as commentary on plant and wildlife in the vicinity.
Gem Type: Geologic Feature
