Description
Located along the southwestern shore of Te Rata Bay, Hot Water Beach is a unique and relaxing destination. Hot water flows from a small creek into the lake where geothermally heated waters rise through the sands of the eponymous beach. Bring your swim wear to enjoy a soak at the end of your hike, but use caution as the sand and water can be hot.
Long Walk: Access is either by boat or the along the beautiful Tarawera Lake Track (14km). For more information on the track and booking a water taxi, click here.
Family Friendly: The entire family will enjoy swimming and relaxing at the beach.
