Description

While this overlook of the Klamath River is scenic year round, this area especially stands out in the springtime. During migration season, visitors have the highest chance to see whales in transit from this easy-to-access overlook. Often seen breaching, rising to the surface to breathe, or playing on their way to their destinations, whales have been delighting visitors for decades. If you'd like to get closer, a short excursion on the Coastal Trail: Lagoon Creek will bring you down near the water's edge. The trail is steep, however, so use caution!

While gray whales are a seasonal delight, this viewpoint provides a scenic view year round. Visitors will enjoy overlooking the Klamath River as it meets the Pacific Ocean. Other marine mammals call this location home as well, as do a variety of bird species. A short stop at this viewpoint won't disappoint!

Short Walk: Located not far from Highway 101 or from the side of the road, this overlook makes a perfect stop for visitors short on time. There are very few places to admire migrating gray whales with such an ease of access!

Family Friendly: Youngsters will love seeing some of the ocean's largest mammals, especially so close to some of the planet's largest land dwelling organisms all in the same trip!
