Pulpit Rock Overlook [Suggest Edits]

Description

Like many of the viewpoints that can be found along the southern rim of the Black Canyon, this one offers sweeping views of the canyon and the erosional processes that shaped the topography here. This overlook is slightly less crowded than some of the more famous stopping points such as the Painted Wall Overlook, which makes for a more enjoyable stop.

You'll be able to take in a bit of solitude here, which adds to the drama of the incredible landscape. Below, the canyon yawns to where it meets the Gunnison River. While this might not be the deepest portion of the canyon, there is still plenty to wonder at. The power of persistence is on full display, and visitors will have excellent views of how the Gunnison River has eroded each side of the canyon. Combined with a short journey from the road, this lookout point is not to be missed!
