Description

It's not often that you'll have the opportunity to see a waterfall in the Tucson desert, and visitors to the area won't want to miss this especially scenic falls. The trail to the falls is located partway along the Douglas Springs Trail, turn south after about three miles, at a junction with the Bridal Wreath Falls Trail. This short trail will lead to the delicate waterfall.

Dropping over two dramatic ledges, the waterfall is a welcome treat for visitors working their way through the hot desert. The waterfall is at its fullest during the desert spring season (February through April), and it may be more of a trickle in the summer heat (May and June).

While hiking on desert trails immediately following a rain can be dangerous, visitors are encouraged to catch the falls during the monsoon season, when periods of rain will increase the drama of the waterfall.

Take your time to enjoy the falls, especially when the falls are full. They'll make a cheerful clatter as the water tumbles from ledge to ledge, eventually spilling into a small pool. Enjoy the cool breezes that accompany the small feeder stream, and consider the abundance of life that has taken advantage of the water in the area.

Once you've had enough, you'll have the option to continue north to Ernie's Falls, continue on the Douglas Springs Trail, or return the way that you came.

Half-Day Hike: Visitors will need to hike a little over three miles one way to witness the falls, but the going is mostly moderate. Be sure to pack plenty of water and sun protection, as the desert heat can exhaust even experienced hikers.

Family Friendly: While the hike to the falls may be a little long for younger kids, those with the endurance to make a half-day hike will love exploring the mini oasis around the falls.
