If you're looking to take a unique photo during what's called "The Blue Hour", wait until 30 minutes after sunset when you'll truly see why the Blue Ridge Mountain's were given their name.
On the Road: Right at the parking lot.
Family Friendly: Good picnic area right here at this view, tables and benches are already there and a bathroom is near by.

We did this short hike a few weeks ago..You really should take the side trip to Browning Knob and see the old plane crash..Only an extra mile or so.
