Alluvial Fan [Suggest Edits]
Description
This alluvial fan was created during the great Lawn Lake floods of 1982. An alluvial fan occurs when fast-flowing water, in this case a flooded river, disperses onto flatter land and deposits the sediment and debris that it was transporting.
This natural phenomena makes for an interesting spectacle and features various veins of the Roaring River as it cascades down the rocks.
Short Walk: A short drive up old Fall River Rd. off of Trail Ridge Rd. (US 34) will lead you to the Alluvial Fan.
