Wooden Shoe Canyon (Squaw Canyon) Overlook [Suggest Edits]
Description
Some scrambling up the slickrock leads to the saddle of the rock formation and yields a great view of both canyons as well as some spectacular spires typical of the Needles landscape. This is a great example of Needles rock formations and desert landscape. Cairns mark the trail especially across the exposed faces of rock that you'll cross. Some areas are quite steep and may make people who fear heights nervous, but are not overly technical. You'll also enjoy gorgeous views of the Big Spring Canyon and Squaw Canyon, and the many unique and visually appealing desert features in the area.
Half-Day Hike: Access Squaw Canyon or hike the Big Spring Canyon/Squaw Canyon Loop from the trailhead in the Needles Campground.
Family Friendly: Older kids might enjoy the steep grade and primitive trail leading up to this gem.
