Description

One of the most popular activities in Shenandoah includes a scenic drive along Skyline Drive. The road delivers spectacular views along the way, and provides many stopping points for visitors to get outside to experience the park first hand. Admiring the scenery in such a beautiful place will whet the appetite of any visitor, and those seeking refreshment should look no further than the Elkwallow Picnic Area.

Whether you're stopping by for a quick bite, or are using the spot as a jumping off point for a longer journey on foot, the Elkwallow Picnic Area can accommodate. Ample picnic tables are provided, in addition to grills (bring your own fuel and food), and places to throw down a blanket. If you're hoping for a hot meal, a small cafe can satisfy basic needs and offers hot sandwiches and goodies such as ice cream.

On the Road: Located just off Skyline Drive, visitors won't have to venture far to find a scenic spot to picnic.

Family Friendly: With offerings like soft serve ice cream, this is a great stop if morale is low.

Great stop with store and picnic area for chilling. Seems to be a bicycle hangout as well. Great northern hub.
