Lock 60 Canal Park [Suggest Edits]

Description

Lock 60 is a working canal lock from the Schuylkill Navigation. It maintains the Oakes Reach, a 2.4 mile watered section of the Navigation managed by the Schuylkill Canal Association. Aside from the historic lock, canal, and locktender house there is a carry-in boat launch into the Schuylkill River. With a short portage, the River and Canal make a nice loop for paddling.

Also nearby, walk across the bridge over the lock and follow a path upriver to Upper Schuylkill Valley Park and Wildlife Center. This trail is still under development and may be the Upper Schuylkill River Trail.

There are also a few trails into the bluffs near the canal.
